Wear to the cover is all to the good for character I think (loss to wood at lower right) and the leather spine and binding are in good shape
was the illusionistic turned corner at the top left corner and pin at lower left a later addition
which may not have lasted much beyond 1935 (I have found NO other examples of Mid-Land Novelty's work)--but the company's owner
and I honestly don't think detracts
especially where the lines of one section cross over top of the section that frames her face
Young Woman with Flowers and (Lost Mat) Halo, Antique Full Plate Hand-painted Tintype orange and green Wear to the cover isI love how steadfast and determined this young woman looks; something of a young Joan of Arc about her, and with a halo (the product of an old oval shaped mat, long since removed) imparting her with sainthood. With dark gray painted ground, gold brooch and button and chain her neck, and dressed on what I would presume is mourning attire, with sprig of flowers on her lapel. 8 1 2" x 6 1 8". Loss of paint to the ground as evident, from overlaying mat
